Anyone else feeling burnt out on one piece? After the 7 mins of recap this episode, I think i'll come back in like a year and binge, cya guys!

I am... I've read and watched OP for 20+ years now, Im getting tired of this slow pace and Im srly dreading the possibility of dying before seeing the end of this story... Im super dissapointed in the anime for making so much recaps lately and even more on the manga for the increase in frequency of the pauses, I know Oda deserves to be healthy and to rest, but cmon, OP could have an increase in the pacing...

thing is we always have hopes of the pacing getting better but lets be honest no matter how grand a moment has been or how popular an arc has been over the past like 10 years the pacing has always been crap and will always continue to be crap. its kind of sad that alot of us are just gonna look back at one piece in the future as an incredible anime ruined by pacing

The issue is not the pace but story telling. Pace can be slow. DBZ also had a slow pace but it stell felt rewarding to watch.

One Piece has bad story telling, especially with all the scene flipping. And let's be honest: Gear 5 is just a big shit show. High anticipation, low reward.

DBZ had slow pace but only had 291 eps, One Piece has had slow pace for more than a 1000 eps now, its wearing us off...

DB 153, DBZ 291, DBS 131, ... and if you count DBGT 64, but well... it's GT... DBS 131. So in total 575/639. Also One Piece has 114 Filler episode if I am correct. So we way less off. Sure it has more, but DB only flipped a lot in DBS, which why the fights in the end were garbage. Like no one wants to see Franky or Chopper fighting, no one wants to see Krilin etc. fighting. Which is why DBS sucked in the end and all people were just waiting for ultra instinct. While ulta instinct was nice, gear 5... sucks hard... lol.

DB, DBZ, DBS and GT were all separate animes, released on different epochs, sure they had flaws like the ones you mentioned, but they were not a show airing UNINTERRUPTED for 25+ years like One Piece...

This does not make a difference. One Piece also covered different "epochs" and has also changed it's story telling multiple times. So what is your point?

my point is, all of drangon ball seasons aired like different animes, with different stories, classic Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z have the same characters but they are totally different animes, with stories focused on very different characteristics, like the whole Freeza arc happening on a foreign planet with aliens and etc... OP is still the same story but its been airing for 25+ years, this pace takes a huge toll on fans old and new, and this even prevent the adherence of new people that get easily afraid to start watching because of the colossal lenght of the show...

OP is for sure not the same for 25 years. Go and rewatch where it started. It was veeery different to what it is now.

One Piece runs all year, which no other anime does. The writers just cant keep up so the episodes are really 15min and not 23min like most with some recap only weeks. Honestly I would prefer them do every other season like Summer / Winter and not dilute things down.

It’s definitely not the only anime that runs all year, it’s just the only one that still running, Naruto and dragon ball also ran all year, this episode literally did nothing, it’s just them running from fire and now a recap next week when we just had one? And also let’s not ignore the act they have delayed a couple episodes, I rather them delay a week or two than a freaking recap.

Dragon Ball spends 5 min each episode going ahhhhhhhh as they transform. So another all year anime example in which they do fillers

But Dragon Ball still feels way more rewardable to watch.

It would also prove too difficult to change all of the contracts to seasonal work/sponsorship after 20+ years.
The best that one can hope for is any follow-up series being a seasonal production rather than a year round one.

I took a break 9 months ago stopped at 1056 and now I'm back but still the pacing is shit no matter you binge all of it later or not you'll still get annoyed with the horrible pacing.

I think the elephant in the room here, something that ppl aren't really addressing is the fact that a huge reason why a lot of people prefer watching anime is because we don't like the cliches present in regular cartoons in the first place.

Having the biggest moment of the series so tightly tied with the thing you watch anime in the first place to get away from, while an amazing tribute and cool thing to do by Oda to pay respects to the OGs, is understandably off putting.

Well, cartoon is not anime. For cartoon we expect these toon style stuff. And this is for small kids cause they laugh bit ridiculous bs. But as an adult? Well... might be an issue.

Toei Ruining what was amazing Manga flow with endless drawn out fights That were just as long as they needed to be. Been Rewatching ONE PACE and I have only trippled my hate towards TOEI seeing how the fights and jokes roll so much Smoother by cutting out the DRAWN OUT stares and gasps from 30-to sec/multiple minutes each to 3 seconds each.

I think i'll give One Pace a watch AFTER the anime is done.
